Philanthropy and major gifts
The Leukaemia Foundation has stood beside Australians facing blood cancer for 50 years, offering vital cancer care when they need it the most.
This invaluable care continues today with wraparound health services, investment in cutting-edge research and advocacy for better access to new and emerging therapies.
Our purpose is simple but powerful: to improve the quality of life for every person impacted by blood cancer. Weโre working to ensure all Australians, no matter where they live or their background or circumstances, have access to the best possible care and treatment.
Need help?
Driving innovative research and transforming patient care
Philanthropists and major donors have a remarkable opportunity to substantially ease the burden of blood cancer across all the stages of the disease from diagnosis to active treatment and survivorship.
These generous donors drive innovation forward, revolutionise patient support and shape the direction of cutting-edge research.
Our leading donors and philanthropists have:
- Built and supported patient accommodation across the country
- Funded major, multi-year research projects to develop groundbreaking, life-saving treatments
- Expanded clinical trials to give more patients access to new drugs and treatments
- Invested in the careers of the next generation of research talent
- Helped revolutionise models of care so no one has to face blood cancer alone
Bringing care closer to home for people in regional, rural and remote areas
Our next horizon for care will focus on addressing the inequity that exists in health outcomes for people diagnosed with blood cancer in regional, rural and remote areas.
By integrating effective treatments with regional, place-based health and support services, we can potentially save more than 7,000 lives in the next decade.
We invite you to join the hundreds of philanthropists, trusts, foundations, gift in Will supporters, major givers and lifetime donors who believe, like us, that blood cancer care should meet people where they are. We can reach beyond hospitals and treatment centres into homes, communities and across cultures.
Your generous gift could help transform care for people with blood cancer.
Focus areas for your gift
The following focus areas include purpose-driven projects with clear goals, timelines and the potential to change lives. Where can your gift make an impact?
The Leukaemia Foundation is renowned for the quality of its patient support services including our accommodation, transport assistance and financial support. We have more than 160 accommodation units across Australia available for people with blood cancer and their loved ones. This is accompanied by a 30-strong team of healthcare professionals offering practical support and easy to understand information to help everyone impacted by blood cancer.
We have been supporting Australian blood cancer research for more than 20 years, committing more than $60 million since 2000. This has led to new and better diagnostics, treatments, therapies and access to international clinical trials.
Top scientists can be diverted from blood cancer research through lack of opportunity and funding in Australia. As one of the leading funders of PhD scholarships in blood cancer in Australia we recognise the need to fund the careers of researchers who will change the research eco-system and create the breakthroughs of tomorrow.
Blood cancer can have significant lifelong impacts, so the Leukaemia Foundation provides resources and services to help people living with blood cancer to not only survive but thrive. Every one of the more than 150,000 people living with blood cancer in Australia has the right to the best quality of life possible beyond their initial treatments.
Cancer is one of the leading causes of illness and death in Australia โ but where you live can make a big difference to your outcome. For many people in regional and rural communities, delays in diagnosis, fewer specialist options and the challenges of travelling long distances for treatment mean the road to recovery is harder. We also know that ongoing rehabilitation and emotional support can make a real difference to wellbeing โ yet for those outside our cities, these vital services are often difficult to reach.
Join the growing number of major donors who are improving the lives of countless Australians impacted by blood cancer.
