chemotherapy

A procedure where a person receives healthy blood forming stem cells. They replace their own stem cells that have been destroyed by treatment with high doses of chemotherapy or radiation.

A procedure which replaces blood stem cells in people whose bone marrow has been destroyed by chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.

Hair loss. It can happen as a side effect of some chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It usually grows back after treatment ends.

Medicines that help blood cancer cells die in a gentler way than usual chemotherapy and might work better for some people.
