The Leukaemia Foundation Annual Report 2018 reflects a year of transformation, renewed purpose, and deepened national impact as the organisation entered a new strategic era focused on meeting the unmet needs of people living with blood cancer. Guided by a newly unified structure, the Foundation expanded accommodation facilities like the Stirling Cross Apartments in WA, strengthened national support programs, and funded groundbreaking research through partnerships with WEHI, HSANZ, and the ALLG. Major community initiatives — including the 20th anniversary of World’s Greatest Shave ($16.7M raised) and the 10th anniversary of Light the Night ($1.37M raised) — galvanised national participation, while legacy gifts and corporate partnerships sustained vital services and research investment exceeding $2 million. The organisation also modernised operations through a shift to cloud-based systems, enhanced workplace safety, and nationalised supporter care. With $81.3 million in net assets and a $2.6 million surplus, the Foundation emerged stronger and more unified, reaffirming its role as Australia’s trusted voice for people with blood cancer
