The Leukaemia Foundation Annual Report 2017 captures a landmark year as the organisation became a unified national entity, setting the stage for a bold new strategy focused on stakeholder needs, innovation, and leadership in blood cancer care. The Foundation supported 11,290 patients — a 10% increase from the previous year — delivering over 53,000 nights of free accommodation to 727 families and 38,000 patient transport trips covering more than 1.5 million kilometres. Research investment reached $1.86 million across 11 leading institutions, advancing breakthroughs such as CAR T-cell therapy and liquid biopsy diagnostics. Advocacy efforts accelerated access to new treatments on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, while national fundraising efforts like World’s Greatest Shave ($16.5M), Light the Night ($2M), and U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year ($1.8M) drove record community engagement. With $78.7 million in net assets and a $4.3 million surplus, the Foundation emerged stronger and more unified, reaffirming its mission to lead the blood cancer community and deliver better outcomes for all Australians
