Government advocacy for blood cancer
We’re standing up for people living with blood cancer where it matters most.
Governments have a vital role in funding and delivering health services for all Australians.
Governments fund the hospitals, diagnostic services and specialist care that haematologists provide – including chemotherapy, bone marrow transplants and supportive care.
Through Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), government subsidises consultations and life-saving medicines like venetoclax, CAR-T therapy and immunotherapies, determining what patients can access and afford.
In every part of the journey – from diagnosis and treatment to support and survival – government decisions shape what is possible. For people with blood cancer, government is not peripheral; it is fundamental.
We therefore engage with governments, at all levels, to advocate for government funding for blood cancer support and research, and for policy change, on behalf of people living with blood cancer.
We believe every Australian with a blood cancer or related disorder should have access to the best possible information and treatment regardless of where they live, their circumstance, or their background.
Our unwavering commitment is to people living with blood cancer – which is why working with governments is so important.
