CT scan

Also called a CAT scan. Computer assisted tomography (CAT) is a complex x-ray technique used to produce serial detailed internal images of any part of the body. The patient lies on a couch, which gradually moves through the X-ray machine, and the image is built up by a computer as a cross-section of the body. It is a special type of tomography.
