Community support and history

In 2002, the Queensland Freemasons Blood Cancer Centre was opened in the grounds of Townsville General Hospital to cater for the needs of regional families in north Queensland.

Stage one required a $2.2 million investment and was named in recognition of the Queensland Freemasons who donated $1.2 million to the Leukaemia Foundation for the facility. The Stage 2 expansion was completed in July 2012 with funding assistance from the Queensland Government.
