World's Greatest Shave 2015You will look and feel amazing knowing that your brave actions are raising vital funds towards research breakthroughs and everyday care of those whose lives have been devastated by a leukaemia, lymphoma, or myeloma diagnosis.

Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Bill Petch, said the Foundation needs to raise $5 million to continue funding life-saving research and support services provided free-of-charge to patients.

World’s Greatest Shave is our most important fundraiser and provides most of the funds we need to maintain four accommodation villages for patients as well as the provision of services such as counselling, education and transport designed to help them through a very challenging time,” Mr Petch said.

“Today, six Queenslanders are expected to be diagnosed with a blood cancer. The research we fund seeks to develop more effective treatments and investigate the causes of a range of blood cancers in the hope that one day soon cures will be available for everyone.”

“Losing your hair for a short while will help others for a long while, so I encourage everyone to take part. If this is not your year to shave you can support a shaver, colour your hair or donate.”

You’ll find many ways to get involved and heaps of fundraising assistance at So what are you waiting for? Sign up now and start planning your 2015 shave event!

Participants can sign up as an individual or a team with their family members, friends or work colleagues. Schools can participate too, by holding a ‘Funky Hair Day’ where teachers and students can get sponsored to shave, colour or wear a ‘funky’ hairstyle to school.

The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation and receives no on-going government funding.
