The 16th annual IGA Leukaemia Foundation Charity Race Day will be held at Cannon Racecourse on Saturday 21 June. Come along for a fiesta of fashion, fillies and fun and help raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland.

Events Coordinator for the Leukaemia Foundation Cairns Branch, Sunny Tan, said the race day is a flagship charity event for Cairns and is suitable for all ages.

“We’re very grateful to once again be the beneficiary of such a fantastic event which promises to be a fun, family-friendly day in support of the work of the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland,” Ms Tan said.

“Last year the Foundation provided more than 3400 nights of free accommodation near treatment centres as well as tailored support services to patients and their families from Far North Queensland,” she said.

The race day general admission tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for pensioners and children under 15 are free. The gates open at 11am. There will be seven local races, fashion on the field, live music, entertainment, and a jumping castle and face painting for the kids.
For those who like to live it up in style, corporate tickets are available for $150 each or $1,500 for a table of 10. The price includes gate entry, entry into the stylish Silks Pavillion, a full buffet lunch and a beverage package (including beer and wine).

Attendees who purchase a full table are also invited to attend a pre-race function on Friday 20 June at the Hilton Cairns Waterfront Terrace, where they can take part in a Calcutta style horse raffle. 50% of the proceeds from the raffle will go to the Foundation.

To purchase tickets visit www.cairnsjockeyclub.com.au or contact the Leukaemia Foundation Cairns Branch on 4041 1644 or email stan@leukaemia.org.au.

The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation and receives no ongoing government funding. The Foundation relies on the support of individuals, communities and businesses to fund medical research and provide free support services to patients and their families, including transportation, accommodation and counselling.
