Loose forward lines up to send blood cancer backwards

Michael Gunn

Queensland Reds rising star Michael Gunn has becoming our newest ambassador.

“I wanted to get involved because I know first-hand how dangerous blood cancers can be and the way they turn life upside down for Queensland families like my own,” the 21-year-old said.

“The Leukaemia Foundation is funding some incredible stuff in the laboratory to find better treatments so more people survive, and the free support they offer families is just amazing.”

The 100kg loose forward is throwing his weight behind this year’s Light the Night fundraising walk and is encouraging Queenslanders to join a walk near them at lightthenight.org.au and help more Australians beat blood cancer.

Families and friends come together at Light the night for a gentle walk carrying one of three coloured lanterns; gold to remember a loved one, white for their own blood cancer journey, or blue to show they care.

Bill Petch, Leukaemia Foundation CEO, says Michael is undoubtedly the charity’s marquee signing of 2016.

“Everyone here is thrilled to have Michael on the team that is working to beat blood caner with love, sweat, and tears,” he said.
