Employee engagement and fundraising

Stefan team and Nova at Shave

Your staff can support our work in a number of exciting ways.

Whether supporting us through an ongoing corporate partnership, ‘Charity of the Year’ partnership, or simply on an ad hoc basis, working with the Leukaemia Foundation has something for every type of business.

Staff fundraising

By partnering with us, you will have support from our fundraising team, plus gain access to a wide suite of fundraising materials that will help to put the fun in fundraising. Every year the Leukaemia Foundation runs campaigns and events you and your staff can get involved in. Why not start a company team and hold a World’s Greatest Shave event, or join us to support those affected by blood cancer in Light the Night walks across Australia? Visit our fundraising page for more information on all of our campaigns.

In addition to our bigger events, there is still so much you and your staff can do between the hours of 9am to 5pm to get involved!

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Morning or afternoon tea
Whether you hold morning or afternoon teas as a regular staff event or for special occasions, why not ask for a gold coin donation to come along, or sell special items like cupcakes or cookies to raise money.

Get the tickets ready
Holding a raffle is an old but effective way of fundraising. Buy a prize to entice staff to get involved or why not offer a prize that money cannot buy like an additional five days holiday allowance!

Loosen the ties
Lots of companies have already implemented a casual Friday policy, but why not ask staff to donate $1 each Friday to be involved. Even a small company can make a big impact with this simple idea. To reduce admin time you could offer an annual discount if staff pay up front.

You bet it’s a good cause
Arrange a party to celebrate a sporting event. Run a sweepstake for the State of Origin, Melbourne Cup, or the cricket and donate a percentage of the takings to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Corporate challenges
Challenge events are a fantastic way to boost employee morale, encourage team building and networking, and engage employees in a charity partnership. Taking part in one of our events might be the challenge but you can always create your own test of physical and mental strength! With such a diverse and wonderful landscape in Australia the options are endless and could including some of the following:

  • 5km, 10km, 15km runs
  • hiking
  • bike rides
  • sports matches or tournaments.

Many sporting events are also listed on our Get your Blood Pumping website.

As well as the challenge itself and the training preparations, the fundraising side offers participants a real sense of achievement when they raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation and smash their targets. Our experienced team will be on hand to help, giving you support from start to finish and helping encourage participants all the way through their training and fundraising. Why not provide some extra motivation for staff to get involved and give your challenge a competitive edge? Inter-department activities are always a popular way to engage employees. You could also challenge rival companies to join in the fun! The Mining and Energy Challenge is a great example of this.
