National Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee

The National Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee (NMSAC) was established in 2000 to provide strategic advice to the Leukaemia Foundation on medical, scientific, research and clinical matters. Members of the NMSAC are drawn from the Australian scientific and medical research community and are each highly regarded in their fields of expertise. The Chair of the NMSAC, Professor Ken Bradstock, is also the National Medical Advisor to the Foundation and is a member of the Leukaemia Foundation Board.

This committee oversees and guides the development of the National Research Program. Two specialist subcommittees, the Grants Review Committee (GRC), chaired by Professor Andrew Boyd, and the Fellowships and Scholarships Review Committee (FSRC) chaired by Professor Geoff Hill are responsible for reviewing all research applications submitted to Leukaemia Foundation. Members from the committees include the wider Australian Scientific and Medical research community with memberships varying from year to year. The NMSAC makes research funding recommendations based on advice from the GRC and the FSRC ensuring that the recommendations are consistent with LF goals and priorities. The NMSAC also provides medical and scientific advice in the preparation of our education booklets and programs.
