The Leukaemia Foundation and Australian Mortgage Brokers (AMB) Partnership
In May 2007, AMB and its team of Brokers made the decision to collectively donate $5.00 from every loan settled, to the Leukaemia Foundation. In October 2007 our partnership was further enhanced by the development of a formal agreement noting all AMB Brokers will share a significant portion of the up-front commission and on-going income received from the loans that have been secured as a direct outcome of our partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation.
How can my loan help the Leukaemia Foundation?
Australian Mortgage Brokers is proud to play an active role in supporting the Leukaemia Foundation in the provision of vital services to patients and families affected by leukaemia and other related blood disorders, and also in research to find a cure and improvements in medical treatments.
As a guide, a single loan of $350,000 established under this partnership will generate approximately $1025 for the Leukaemia Foundation over a five year period. We expect this partnership will generate a significant number of loans each year and the compounding effect of trailer income will generate much needed, ongoing income for the Leukaemia Foundation. In fact, if the loan continues after five years, so will on-going income to the Leukaemia Foundation.
What will the income fund?
In real terms the income received from AMB will fund the following ‘Mission to Care’ services:
- $55 will pay for one car to transport patients to and from treatment centres for one day
- $100 provides a family with a fully furnished ‘home away from home’ near a treatment centre for one night
- $250 provides access for a patient and their family to attend a disease-specific support and education program Our ongoing support can also provide the funds to achieve the Leukaemia Foundation’s ‘Vision to Cure’ objectives, to ultimately find a cure for the diseases while also developing improvements in the treatment and management of the diseases - ie:
- $10,000 provides an honours year scholarship for research into leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders
- $40,000 provides a PhD scholarship for one year (PhD scholarship usually runs for three years)
