Vero Volunteers Blitz at Waverton
Volunteers from Vero Insurance Limited (Vero) brought some makeover magic to the Leukaemia Foundation’s Waverton Accommodation Complex in Sydney on Friday 15 May.
The Vero volunteers cleaned the playground, restored the timber benches and created a front garden to enhance the living experience for the over 60 patients and their families and carers who live at the Waverton Accommodation complex each year.
Anthony Day, Vero’s Executive General Manager Intermediated Distribution, said Vero had a long history of supporting Australian communities by fundraising and providing much needed support to charitable organisations.
“A team of 15 of our sales and business development managers will be pitching in to help and we are delighted to be making a difference for residents at the complex,” Mr. Day said.
In Sydney, the Foundation has two accommodation complexes, a six unit complex at Westmead, which is situated close to Westmead Hospital and the Children's Hospital in Western Sydney, and the Phillip Desbrow Accommodation Complex at Waverton, which is in close proximity to several major treatment centres in and around Sydney.
The Waverton complex provides six two bedroom, self contained apartments that have everything needed to truly be a 'home away from home'. Each includes a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and lounge, a shared children's playground, a growing book and music library and nearby care from support services staff.
