Anthony joined the Leukaemia Foundation in 2007 and is the General Manager, Support Services. Anthony was recruited to lead the national support services team, and to improve services provided by the Foundation to patients and their loved ones. These services include: Disease and general wellbeing education, psychosocial support, accommodation and transport services and practical assistance programs.
Anthony is a nursing graduate from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and specialised in oncology/haematology nursing. He has nursed at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane), St Vincent’s University Hospital (Dublin), and Mater Hospital (Brisbane).
Anthony has an active interest in education, having lectured in basic anatomy and physiology at the Australian College of Natural Medicine for four years, managing the graduate nurse program at the Mater Adults Hospital and working as Nurse Educator at the Mater Private Hospital (Brisbane) for two years.
Since his appointment at the Foundation, Anthony has overseen the expansion of Support Services, implemented several national disease-specific coordinator roles to improve services to non-leukaemia blood cancer patients, developed new disease-specific newsletters, implemented telephone support networks for regional patients, and upgraded online support tools for patients.
Anthony also leads the Foundation’s Education Materials Committee to ensure all Leukaemia Foundation publications are produced at a high quality, and kept up to date and relevant.
