A special thanks to our amazing volunteers this week
Publish Date: 9/5/2016
National Volunteer Week (May 9-15) gives us an invaluable opportunity to thank the generous women and men who gave more than 71,500 hours of their time last financial year to helping us support families affected by blood cancer.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Some have a personal connection to blood cancer, while others simply choose us as the beneficiaries of their wealth of experience, capabilities and desire to make a difference to the lives of people touched by blood cancer.
Last financial year, the combined contribution of our volunteers in dollar terms was equivalent to an extra 38 full time staff members, demonstrating just how much more we can do with the priceless support we receive.
Each volunteer plays a significant role in enabling us to do what we do, from assisting with our transport and accommodation programs, to supporting fundraising activities and events, to sharing corporate expertise and even their own blood cancer experiences to help others.
Others roll up their sleeves at working bees, while our volunteer Board members and those from the scientific and medical worlds have a range of experiences and skills that they generously share.
To everyone who volunteered in ways big and small, thank you. We simply couldn't do it without you.
